We deeply respect the animals sacrificed for food and support ranchers who prioritize welfare and the environment. With 99% of farmed animals in the U.S. being raised in factory farms, we aim to expand the 1% using humane, sustainable practices. Many of our partners are leading the way with regenerative agriculture.
We build direct relationships with our ranchers—no middlemen. We vet our vendors for quality, accountability, transparency, consistency, and communication. We prefer domestic sourcing, but quality comes first. Every vendor provides thorough documentation.

Forward Farms
100% Grass-Fed Carbon Neutral Beef
Our partner Forward Farms is dedicated to animal welfare and farm sustainability. The cattle within their collective are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished on farms and ranches throughout the Pacific Northwest and InterMountain West. Cattle roam and graze freely in pasture, thriving on a natural grass diet. They are never given growth hormones, treated with antibiotics, or fed animal byproducts. Cattle are handled respectfully using low-stress environments and systems designed by Dr. Temple Grandin.
Forward Farms is the first and only regenerative beef company in the U.S. to raise their beef 100% carbon neutral. By utilizing a proprietary software and soil data, they are able to compare a farm’s emissions from animals and machinery against the sequestration by plants, soil, and agriculture. When sequestration meets or exceeds emissions from cattle and equipment, the beef is labeled “100% carbon neutral raised.”

Mary's Chicken
Pasture-Raised Heirloom Chicken
Our chicken comes from Mary’s Chicken in Sanger, California, known for high-welfare poultry. We source their Global Animal Partnership (G.A.P. 4) and Certified Humane® pasture-raised, slow-growth Heirloom chickens, fed a non-GMO diet. This higher welfare breed, aligned with the Better Chicken Project (BCP), emphasizes slower natural growth, promoting better skeletal health and overall well-being. These birds have space to roam, allowing natural behaviors like foraging, socializing, and dust bathing. Debeaking is prohibited, and strict welfare standards minimize stress and protect their health. They are processed using humane multi-stage controlled atmosphere stunning, a system widely considered more humane than conventional slaughter practices.
Since 2009, Evermore has exclusively sourced free-range, antibiotic-free poultry* and now proudly meets all Better Chicken Commitment (BCC) standards. The BCC, recognized by top animal welfare organizations in North America and Europe, promotes better farming practices and healthier breeds. Our Chicken Recipe is also part of the ASPCA®’s Shop With Your Heart® program.

Atkins Ranch
Pasture-Raised Regenerative Lamb
Our 100% grass-fed lamb comes from Atkins Ranch in New Zealand, where sheep are raised exclusively on pasture. It holds a G.A.P. Step 4 rating. While it’s not as local as some of our other meats, the quality, oversight, and consistency of New Zealand lamb are unmatched. Lamb is a protein deeply influenced by seasonality and terroir, so we collaborate closely with our rancher to monitor fat content and nutrient levels. The lamb is raised without antibiotics or added hormones.
Atkins Ranch is deeply committed to regenerative agriculture, with initiatives focused on soil health, biodiversity, water management, and carbon sequestration. Since 2019, they have collaborated with the Savory Institute through the Land to Market program, which provides Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV). This ensures their lamb producers not only meet but also improve environmental metrics, such as ground cover and water infiltration. Through a partnership with CarbonCrop, Atkins Ranch is also measuring carbon sequestration to understand and enhance their climate impact across multiple farms.

Free-Range Organic Turkey
We source from Mary’s Free-Range Organic Turkey, a pioneer in animal welfare and sustainable farming in Utah and California. Their birds enjoy enriched environments with freedom to move about, encouraging natural behaviors like foraging and dust-bathing, while humane handling practices throughout their lives minimize stress at every stage of care. Mary’s Turkey is Certified Humane®, Non-GMO Project Verified®, and G.A.P. 2 certified.
Since 2009, Evermore has exclusively sourced free-range, antibiotic-free (ABF) poultry.* Our turkey recipes for both dogs and cats are included in the ASPCA’s Shop With Your Heart® program.

NestFresh
Pasture-Raised Eggs
We have long been committed to sourcing pasture-raised eggs and oppose housing laying hens in cages. Our pasture-raised eggs come from NestFresh, where hens enjoy access to open spaces, room to roam, and the freedom to socialize and express natural behaviors. NestFresh partners with Certified Humane® to help ensure a higher quality of life for the hens in our supply chain. You can learn more about the benefits of pasture-raised eggs here. NestFresh’s pasture-raised shell eggs are also featured on the ASPCA®’s Shop With Your Heart® list of certified products.
Building on our commitment to farm animal welfare, we are now working with NestFresh to transition all the eggs we use to their Humanely Hatched™ eggs by the end of 2026. These eggs are produced using in-ovo sexing technology, which eliminates the cruel practice of culling male chicks. We will share regular progress updates as we work toward implementing this more humane system.
Our Supporting Players
We rely on supporting players like organic produce, nutrient-dense boosters, and targeted supplementation to round out our recipes. We carefully choose each ingredient for what it brings to the bowl and take the sourcing as seriously as our proteins.
Organic Produce
We are committed to sourcing certified organic produce from within the U.S. In our efforts to make the healthiest recipes possible, we support farming practices that promote soil health, biodiversity, and lower pesticide exposure.
Food-Based Boosters
We take great care in sourcing our organically grown, nutritious food boosters, including oats and barley, bladderwrack kelp, Styrian pumpkin seeds, chia seeds. and expeller-pressed high-linoleic safflower oil. We use eggshell calcium in our dog food recipes.
Sustainable Seafood
Our Wild Alaskan pollock oil and clam broth are MSC-Certified. Salmon bone powder used in our cat food recipes comes from additive, antibiotic, and GMO-free salmon off-cuts sourced from farms along Norway's Atlantic coast.
Targeted Minimal Supplements
For our recipes to be complete and balanced, we need only very small amounts of zinc for dog food and Vitamin E and thiamine for cat food. Every aspect of the process involves rigorous testing.
Note: While we do not use pig products in current Evermore recipes (and, truthfully, have no plans to), we support initiatives that provide mother pigs freedom from the cruel confines of gestation and farrowing crates.
